Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace are quite keen on getting Leicester City defender Jeffrey Schlupp on their books this year.

The Eagles have already had a bid of £9m turned down by last year's champions, but should return with a higher offer before the window closes.

They will face competition from Championship side Aston Villa, though, according to The Guardian

Schlupp has made just six appearances for the Foxes this season, with only three of those being starts. He was also surprisingly left out of the Ghana squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off in three days time.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri prevented the 24-year-old from leaving for West Bromwich Albion last summer, rejecting two bids of £9m and £12m from the Baggies. However, they are said to be willing to let him leave for £12m this time around.

Palace are likely to cough up the amount, but with Tony Pulis still very interested in making the signing, and Villa's Steve Bruce looking to strengthen and return the Villans to the top flight, there will be a fair amount of difficulty.

Bruce is also thought to be close to snatching Henri Lansbury from Nottingham Forest for £3m. But the deal is still in the balance, as Forest owner Fawaz al-Hasawi is set to sell his controlling stake to American businessman John Jay Moores, and won't give the green light just yet.
