Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed the footballing ability of forward Daniel Sturridge, claiming that he has absolutely outstanding ability. Klopp though is less enamoured by his fitness and wants the striker to overcome the enormous fitness problems he faces every season.
Sturridge, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea in 2013 has struggled with various fitness issues during his time with the club, in fact the 27-year-old has so far missed close to 600 days due to a number of knocks he seems to pick up.
His fitness issues has continued this season too, which has limited the 27-year-old's playing time, with him making only five league starts so far. Klopp while praising his ability was quick to point out that the English international will never fulfill his potential if he continues to be dodged by fitness problems.
"Listen, we have spoken a lot of times about this.
"His talent and skill there is absolutely no doubt about. Cleverness, everything you need on the pitch is absolutely outstanding. But he has not been often enough fit. That is how it is."
The striker recently expressed grievances on the lack of playing time under Klopp and was linked with a move away from Merseyside, but so far nothing has been confirmed by either the club or player.
