Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is to make a decision over his future in the next 48 hours, according to the Mirror.

Sakho hasn't featured for Jurgen Klopp's men this season and knows he has to move away from Anfield to play regular first team football again.

The Frenchman has a variety of clubs after his services, including Southampton, West Ham, Galatasaray and Sevilla are all said to be interested in the former PSG man.

It is understood that the 26-year-old would rather stay in the Premier League and sees Southampton as a preferred destination.

Sakho knows current Saints boss Claude Puel from his time in France and know he would become a regular starter for the 55-year-old's side.

With various offers to choose from, Sakho is set to make his decision by the end of this week. Liverpool are hoping to get cash for the player, but may have to settle for a loan with a view to a permanent switch in the summer.

Puel will be hoping he can bring the Frenchman into Southampton as it would then pave the way for wantaway captain Jose Fonte to leave the club.

Fonte handed in a transfer request earlier this week and is likely to reunite with his former boss Ronald Koeman at his new side Everton.

Sakho is keen to stay in the Premier League and the chance to revive his career with his compatriot Puel could be the swaying factor in his decision.

A falling out with Jurgen Klopp in the summer has resulted in the 26-year-old playing with the under 23's this season and the sooner he can get out of Anfield the better.
