The first round of the 2016/17 I League saw no suprises with defending champions Bengaluru FC and Indian footballing giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal kick-starting their campaigns with a win.
Let's take a look at the players who made the Team of the Week as picked by Goal.
11. Karanjit Singh
Chennai City struggled to get going in their I-League debut against Minerva Punjab FC and that they came out of the game with a point to their name was due to the heroics of goalkeeper Karanjit Singh.
The shot-stopper made key saves against the likes of Manandeep Singh, Victor Amobi and Joel Sunday and deservingly makes the Team of the Week.
10. Pritam Kotal
Pritam Kotal's return to the Mohun Bagan's defense was lauded by the manager and the defender showed just why he is so highly rated, putting in an impressive performance at right-back against Churchill Brothers.
The 23-year-old played an important role in Bagan's opening day win, putting in the cross from which Balwant SIngh scored what was the winner of the game.
9. Dharmaraj Ravanan
The tough tackling centre-back makes the list due to his no-nonsense approach against Minerva Punjab FC in Chennai City's opener.
The Tamil Nadu native combined well with partner Aniyeche Echezona to ensure that Chennai kept a clean sheet.
8. Ivan Bukenya
The Ugandian centre-back spared East Bengal's blushes by scoring the equaliser against Aizawl FC.
Bukenya was also tidy in defense, nullifying the threat of strikers Stephane Bayi and Alfred Jaryan.
7. Anas Edathodika
Anas Edathodika, makes the list solely due to his all-important goal-line clearance, which saved the day for his team Mohun Bagan against the Churchill Brothers during the weekend.
The 29-year-old as usual was his impressive self but unusually failed to take the game by the scruff of the neck as seen in previous years.
6. Sena Ralte
Defending champions Bengaluru FC have made a number of signings this season and none paid off better than Sena Ralte. The Mizoram born player scored arguably one of the goals of the week during their facile 3-0 win over Shillong Lajong while also looking stable defensively.
5. Thoi Singh
Midfielder Thoi Singh made a stunning debut for new side Mumbai FC, scoring the winner for his side against DSK Shivajians.
The 26-year-old pounced on a defensive mistake to score a brilliant goal, one which ensured his side made a winning start in the 2016-17 campaign.
4. Cameron Watson
Another of FC Bengaluru's new signings, Australia's Cameron Watson controlled the proceedings in midfield, adding poise and grace to the champions movement across the pitch.
Watson dropped deep a number of times, with many of the team's moves coming from him.
3. Albert Zohmingmawia
The Aizawl academy graduate troubled East Bengal's defenders by his pace, Narayan Das in particular.
Arguably Aizawl's best player on the pitch, it was a pity that he ended on the losing side.
2. Udanta Singh
The best player of round one, Udanta Singh was the star of the show for Bengaluru FC, scoring two goals while creating the third.
Named man of the match against Shillong Lajong, all eyes will be on the winger to reproduce his performances from the first round in future matches.
