Manchester City to Move for Rakitic - Top Transfer Rumours of the Day

The January transfer window this season has not seen any club making a big, blockbuster signing so far. While that might be due to various clubs being cautious, it does not stop the transfer rumours floating around in the football world. Let's take a look at some of the biggest transfer news of today.

4. Lucas Piazon

Chelsea's loanee Lucas Piazon who is currently plying his trade for championship side Fulham is keen to extend his stay at the club, taking to social media to give an update on his contract situation.

The Express reports that Piazon is happy at the English club as he has been a regular starter under coach Slavisa Jokanovic, scoring four goals in 15 appearances so far.

3. Fernando Llorente

Spain international Fernando Llorente is set to swap Swansea for Chelsea with Sky Sports reporting that the two clubs are working on a deal which would see Michy Batshuayi go the other way.

Blues manager Antonio Conte who has worked with the striker during his time with Juventus is keen to add him to the squad, with it still being unclear whether the swap would be a loan deal or a permanent swap.

2. Patrice Evra

Patrice Evra's future at Juventus is in doubt following reports that the left-back is thinking about returning to former club Manchester United.

The Turin side's chief executive confirmed to Sky Sport Italia that the 36-year-old was left out of the side to face Bologna to give him time to think on his future. The French defender has not been a regular starter for the Bianconeri with Alex Sandro the first choice at left-back.

1. Ivan Rakitic

Pep Guadiola is ready to make his first signing of the January transfer window and if it is to be believed, he is going to raid his old club Barcelona for star midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

Rakitic who joined the Catalan giants from Spanish side Sevilla in 2014 has been in and out of the side this season with Luis Enrique even leaving him out of the squad for their trip to Villarreal last night.

With German Ilkay Gundogan picking up an injury, Rakitic is seen as the ideal choice to fill the gap in City's midfield, with a  £42 million move mooted.
