The 23-year-old Bosnian, who has been part of the first team set up at Schalke since September 2012, is viewed as the long-term successor to the Frenchman, who himself has been linked with a sensational return to former club Manchester United in recent weeks.
Kolasinac was previously the subject of interest from both Liverpool and Manchester City but it is now claimed that Beppe Marotta has reached an agreement with the player to sign for the Old Lady when his current contract expires with Schalke in June.
The left-back has scored three goals in 79 appearances Die Knappen and is also a mainstay for the Bosnian national side.
